PowerWood is pursuing a number of projects worldwide, initially in North America and Europe, to generate electricity through the use of waste wood and biomass from sustainable managed forests. Each power station is projected to have the capacity to generate 41.5MWe. We have secured number of sites with feedstock in Canada.
The first project is projected to be in La Crete, Northern Alberta, Canada where sawmill wastes and deciduous timber from sustainably manged forests will be used to generate 41.5MWe base load power for the Alberta grid. The project will be a major part of Alberta’s drive for renewable energy and will be benefitting under The Alberta Carbon Offset programme. More details of this project are available on request.
Further projects in Northern Alberta are expected to follow on shortly.
Other projects in North America, Europe are under development and will be announced shortly.
